Non-LPS Farmers Accuse APCRDA of Coercion in Amaravati

Farmers from Mandadam village in the Amaravati Capital Region have filed complaints with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank, alleging threats and coercion by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA).

They say they are being pressured to vacate their fields despite not enrolling in the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS).

According to the farmers, APCRDA officials removed fencing from their lands and claimed the plots had been allotted to a private hotel developer.

When they approached the Thullur police to lodge a complaint, they were allegedly discouraged and told to hand over their land for pooling instead.

In their submissions, the farmers argue that APCRDA’s actions breach ADB and World Bank safeguard policies that prohibit intimidation, forced displacement, and coercion.

They have urged both institutions to intervene, investigate the alleged harassment, and ensure protections for non-LPS farmers before extending any further project support.

“Without urgent action, we fear losing our lands, livelihoods, and dignity,” their complaint states.
