Naidu Begins Preparation For Tirupati By-Poll

It appears Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken the by-elections to Tirupati Lok Sabha seat very seriously and wants to win the seat to prove the party’s existence.

In a bid to start early preparations for the Tirupati by-elections, Naidu on Monday named former Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi as the TDP candidate, though the Election Commission of India is yet to announce the schedule.

The TDP chief held a video conference with the party leaders from Tirupati and asked them to strive hard for the TDP victory in the by-polls.

Apart from exposing the ruling YSRC corruption in the public, he asked the party leaders to explain to the people the developmental works taken up by the previous TDP government.

The ruling YSR Congress party is yet to decide its candidate for the Tirupati by-elections, but it is likely to field one of the Durgaprasad’s family member for the seat to cash in on the sympathy vote.

The BJP is also very keen on grabbing the Tirupati seat at any cost since it feels the Hindus of Tirupati constituency are angry with the Jagan government.

The BJP has represented Tirupati parliamentary constituency once in 1999, when it had a tie-up with the TDP.

If the BJP is not able to find a suitable candidate, it might give the chance to Jana Sena Party and extend all support to its candidate.
