Mudragada hints at launching new party

For the last few days, there have been reports that former minister and Kapu leader from East Godavari district Mudragada Padmanabham is planning to launch a new political party for achieving political power for Kapu community.

However, since it is impossible to get the power only through Kapus, Mudragada has been trying to rope in Backward Classes and Dalits as well.

There were reports that he had recently held a meeting at his residence with prominent BC, Kapu and Dalit leaders to discuss the strategy.

On Tuesday, Mudragada gave further hints at the launch of a new political party for the Kapus, BCs and Dalits.

He wrote an open letter to these communities calling upon them strive for achieving power in the state in a systematic manner.

“Though India got Independence long ago, our communities are yet to get the freedom. While we, who constitute majority of the population, are lagging behind, only a handful of communities constituting a meagre percentage of population have been enjoying political power,” he said.

Stating that it is time for the weaker sections to grab power, Mudragada said they should stop bearing the palanquin of the upper castes and strive for the day when they, too, travel in palanquins.

“This state is not the jagir of any particular community. It belonging to everybody,” he said.

The former minister said if all the oppressed communities join hands, they could bring about radical changes in the society.

“They might be strong and we may be weak like a straw. But if we all come together, we can even tie-up a mighty elephant,” he said.

Mudragada called upon the leaders of the Kapus, BCs and Dalits to work out a blue print to grab political power. They should meet regularly to formulate an action plan.

“There is no need to put up any big shows and create a hungama. Let us make silent efforts like water under the carpet and underground wiring. This has to be a revolution to achieve permanent power to the weaker sections,” he added.
