Every weekend, the Telangana government announces the reclamation of encroached land in Hyderabad. Whether it’s hundreds or thousands of crores, the updates have become routine.
This past weekend, a startling revelation came, government land worth Rs 15,000 crore has been reclaimed.
Several high-profile names have emerged in connection with these land scams. The authorities are demolishing illegal structures and erecting fences to secure the reclaimed land.
While these actions are commendable, one critical question remains, why are there no arrests of the culprits?
How can the common man believe that punishment for land encroachment will be severe if no one is brought to justice?
Without accountability, encroachers continue their illegal activities, operating under the assumption that, at worst, the land might be reclaimed but no real consequences will follow.
The public deserves more than partial measures. Final justice, not just demolition or fencing, is needed to instill fear and deter future encroachments. Only then will land protection efforts truly serve their purpose.
