Former Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, popularly known as Nani, who has recently become active on social media targeting his brother and current MP Kesineni Shivanath alias Chinni, is reportedly considering a return to active politics.
Once a prominent leader in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Nani was elected to the Lok Sabha twice from Vijayawada.
However, during the 2024 elections, he defected to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and contested from the same constituency — only to be defeated by his brother Chinni, who contested on a TDP ticket.
Following his loss, Nani publicly announced his retirement from politics and maintained a low profile. However, in recent weeks, he has taken to social media, particularly Twitter, to criticize Chinni.
His posts have focused on controversies such as the Ursu land issue and Chinni’s alleged links with Raj Kasireddy, sparking considerable political discussion.
He has also tagged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in his tweets, adding further intrigue.
While Nani has stayed away from official political activity, his consistent attacks on his brother have drawn sharp responses — not only from Chinni but also from other TDP leaders in Vijayawada.
Some have even accused Nani of acting as a covert TDP figure under the influence of YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Amid his increased social media activity, speculation is growing that Nani may be reconsidering his political stance.
His recent outreach to key figures in the constituency and his pointed public criticism of Chinni have fueled speculation of a political comeback.
Known for his emotional connection to Vijayawada, Nani has begun highlighting the development work he undertook during his tenure as MP. Sources suggest he may be exploring a return to alliance politics.
While he reportedly maintains good relations with several senior BJP leaders, rejoining the NDA coalition via the TDP may prove challenging — especially since Chinni is widely expected to receive the Vijayawada MP ticket in the next election.
As a result, there is increasing buzz that Nani may rejoin the YSRCP. Political insiders suggest he is waiting for the right moment to re-enter the party and revive his political career.
Some believe Nani has come to realize that staying in politics is essential to serve the people who continue to believe in him.
Political analysts argue that if he resumes active engagement now, he could begin rebuilding his base and gain traction ahead of the next election cycle.
