Former Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani, who has virtually been keeping away from politics while continuing to target his brother and present MP Kesineni Shivanath alias Chinni, is said to be preparing for an active return to politics.
According to reports from people close to him, Nani has intensified his groundwork, holding a series of meetings with supporters and followers amid growing speculation about his re-entry.
Kesineni Nani, who won twice as an MP from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) ticket but was defeated by his brother Chinni, who contested as the TDP candidate.
Shortly after the defeat, Nani announced that he was withdrawing from politics. However, changing political dynamics in Vijayawada seem to have prompted him to reconsider his decision and return to active politics.
According to political circles, Kesineni Nani has revived discussions with key national leaders in New Delhi, signalling a possible return to active politics.
However, it is not immediately known whether he is looking for staging a comeback through YSR Congress party or finding an alternative political platform, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party.
With the BJP–TDP–Jana Sena coalition firmly in place, speculation remains strong about Nani’s future political home.
Some political observers claim that even if TDP attempted to block his entry into the BJP, the saffron party might still welcome him if the central leadership favours it.
Others argue that the TDP would not be able to obstruct such a move if the BJP leadership decides in his favour.
Against this backdrop, Kesineni Nani has reportedly begun strengthening his base in the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.
He is planning tours across the seven Assembly segments that fall under the parliamentary constituency and is preparing to hold meetings with his supporters.
This is expected to help him assess his current political standing and identify the right platform for his comeback.
Sources close to him claim that contesting the next elections is “almost certain,” regardless of the party he chooses.
As a result, Kesineni Nani’s next political moves have become the subject of considerable interest across Andhra Pradesh.
