No Chief Minister in India has developed his own constituency in the same manner as Jagan Mohan Reddy developed Pulivendula. This statement is not just an observation; it reflects the significant transformation that has taken place in the area.
Pulivendula now boasts a state-of-the-art sports complex, river rafting facilities, a bio-sciences hub, a City Forest hub, skill development centers, well-maintained roads, and many other amenities that would surprise anyone who visits the place. This development has also extended to Kadapa. It is known that an Oberoi Hotel is also coming up near Gandikota region of Kadapa.
Critics of Jagan Mohan Reddy may perceive this as self-interest on his part. However, it is reasonable for any leader to prioritize their own constituency.
After all, a Chief Minister is first and foremost an elected MLA. With the power vested in his hands, it is natural for him to focus more on his own constituency. Simultaneously, he also works towards supporting the MLAs representing other constituencies.
It is well-known that Chandrababu Naidu, despite his over 40 years of experience as an MLA, failed to develop Kuppam adequately. The place remained a Panchayat until Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed the role of Chief Minister and granted it Municipal Status.
A similar situation exists in Balakrishna's Hindupuram, which has been underdeveloped for decades even from the times of NTR representing this place.
People in Kuppam still claim that Chandrababu always focused on areas that brought personal gains to him and his party, rather than the welfare of the state.
"He never made efforts to uplift the backward regions and seemed more interested in real estate business under the guise of governing the state," the residents of Kuppam state even today.
