Jagan said 'no' to permanent president post

YSR Congress party on Thursday clarified that party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had rejected the resolution passed by the party making him the permanent president of the party.

The clarification came from party general secretary and advisor to government on public affairs Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, a day after receiving a letter from the Election Commission of India seeking clarification on the development and making a public announcement.

Sajjjala said Jagan had categorically rejected the resolution passed to elect him as the YSR Congress Party’s lifetime president.

He said the decision was not included in the minutes after Jagan’s refusal and it was clear that there was no permanent president.

Jagan would be the president for the next five years after which the election for the post would be held and the same was explained and sent to the ECI, he disclosed.

Sajjala said that the EC had asked for a clarification regarding the post of permanent president, and the same will be brought to the EC notice.
