Jagan govt to take over TDP leader's trust?

After facing the legal hassle in confiscating Sangam Dairy being managed by senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former MLA Dhulipalla Narendra in Guntur district, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh is now planning to take over a trust belonging to Narendra’s family.

The Jagan government has served notices on Narendra asking him why it cannot take over the Dhulipalla Veeraiah Chowdary Memorial Trust, established in the name of his late father, as there are several irregularities in the trust.

Endowments Commissioner Hari Jawaharlal issued these notices, in which he indicated that the trust could be seized by the government under Section 6 (A) of the Cooperative Societies Act. He asked Narendra to give his reply within seven days of the serving of the notice.

The DVC Memorial Trust has been running a DVC memorial hospital, apart from various other activities.

According to Narendra, the hospital has been providing subsidised treatment to the families of the milk producers who have been supplying milk to Sangem Dairy.

He reminded that even during the Coronavirus pandemic, the trust has extended services to various sections of the people and the hospital provided specialised treatment.

“The government is deliberately witch-hunting me,” he said.

There is no clarity as to what the allegations are against the DVC trust and why the government is trying to take over the same. But the move once again may lead to yet another political slug fest in the state.
