Jagan For Delhi Tomorrow: What's Up?

Jagan For Delhi Tomorrow: What's Up?

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is leaving for New Delhi on Tuesday, highly placed sources in the corridors of power in Andhra Pradesh said.

It has not been confirmed yet, but the chief minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.

The party sources say it would only be a courtesy call in the wake of Jagan completing one year in office on Saturday.

He might also use this opportunity to seek additional funds to the state which suffered huge financial constraints due to lockdown enforced all over the country to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

However, the timing of Jagan’s visit to Delhi has certainly raised a curious talk in the political circles, especially in the wake of a series of judgements from the state high court against his government.

Especially with regard to judgements on the reinstatement of Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the state election commissioner (SEC) and CBI probe into the alleged ill-treatment of Dr Sudhakar by the Visakhapatnam police, the Jagan government has faced a severe setback. And Jagan might present a factual picture to the Centre in this regard.

The chief minister might also pursue with the issue of abolition of legislative council which is pending with the Centre.

He might request Amit Shah to ensure that the bill pertaining to legislative council be introduced in the coming session.

If it is approved, it will pave the way for Jagan to get the three capitals bill and AP Capital Region Development Authority repeal bill passed in the state legislative assembly and he can expedite the process for shifting of administrative capital to Visakhapatnam.
