Jagan follows KCR, no salary cut for cops, docs

Close on the heels of the Telangana government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao, the YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has also announced a big relief for the employees of three departments from the recent salary cut decision.

Following a representation by the employees’ unions, Jagan on Saturday announced that there would be no deferment of salaries for the employees of the three frontline departments – the police department, medical and health department and the sanitation wing of the municipal administration and urban development department.

As such, employees of the three departments would get their full salaries for the month of March, while employees of all the other departments would get only 50 per cent of their salaries this month and the remaining 50 per cent would be paid only after the restoration of normalcy of the Coronavirus situation.

Jagan said the police, doctors and their supporting staff and sanitation employees were working round the clock, risking their lives in the present Coronavirus situation and their work should be appreciated.

“Though the state is going through a grave financial situation, the government decided to give them full salaries as a recognition to their services,” the CM said.

On Friday, the Telangana government, too, issued a GO, paying full salaries to the employees of Medical and Health and Police departments would be paid for the month of March. However, there was no mention of sanitation employees in the GO.

The order further said that the Director of Treasuries and Accounts, Pay and Accounts Officer and the Director of Works Accounts shall take necessary action accordingly.
