Jagan brand for weaker section colonies!

Jagan brand for weaker section colonies!

In the initial days of coming to power, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy used to discourage naming of any scheme after him. Majority of the schemes his government had proposed were named after his father late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

However, Jagan reluctantly accepted when one of his cabinet colleagues proposed to name a couple of schemes after him during the cabinet meeting in July last year. Since these schemes are his brainchild, they were named as Jagananna Amma Vodi and Jagananna Vidya Deevena.

But later, the chief minister seems to have realised that there is a need to come out of his father’s shadow and establish his own brand in the state. So, more schemes are now being named after him, line Jagananna Vasathi Deevena.

Now, the latest scheme of distribution of house sites to 26 lakh poor families and constructing houses for them is also getting the Jagan brand. The state cabinet which met on Wednesday decided to name the weaker sections housing scheme after Jagan.

Minister for Information and Public Relatkions Perni Venkatramaiah said the distribution of house sites for 26 lakh poor on Ugadi day and subsequent colonies to be developed would now be called “Jagananna Colonies.”

He said those who would be given the lands would be allowed to construct the houses, pledge the same in the banks and sell the same after five years. All the tehsildars would be elevated to the posts of Joint Sub-Registrars, the minister said.

Needless to say, the decision would fetch a lot of mileage to Jagan personally and also his party in a big way in the coming days!
