Jagan blasts yellow media for false campaign on pensions!

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday came down heavily on the “yellow media” for unleashing a false propaganda stating that the state government was trying to halt the pensions being given to various beneficiaries.

Jagan on Tuesday disbursed Rs 590 crore to nearly three lakh beneficiaries, who could not avail of the benefits of various schemes due to some eligibility errots.

Attacking the Telugu Desam Party and its extended arms for launching a malicious campaign against government on pensions, Jagan said monthly pension now reaches more than 62 lakh pensioners as compared to 39 lakh under TDP.

He said those who could not get the pensions and benefits of other schemes for various reasons were now being given another opportunity.

With this, the total amount disbursed under various schemes was raised to Rs 6,684.84 crore and the total number of beneficiaries was raised to 44, 27,641, he said.

He said he was very much disappointment with the negative propaganda being spread by the opposition and its extended mouthpiece- yellow media.

He alleged that the opposition is working only with the agenda to defame his government and spread false news regarding pensions.

He said that they were disseminating false information on the deletion of pension recipients while the audit was under process.

Clearing the air surrounding the issue and nipping the falsehood in the bud, Jagan clearly stated that the state government had not stopped any pension.

“The pensions were temporarily withheld for conducting the social audit. What is wrong with it?” he asked.

He recalled that during the Naidu regime, the government forced people to pay some percentage of the same Janmabhoomi committees.

The TDP administration only allocated a pitiful Rs 400 crore for pensions, giving only 39 lakh people a monthly income of Rs 1000.

“Now, the monthly pension has now increased to ₹2750 and there are now 62,70,000 pensioners,” he said.

Besides, the chief minister asked officials to conduct an audit of the pension schemes every six months. He further directed them to ensure that people wouldn't fall for the deceptive propaganda.
