Former Minister Ambati Rambabu Arrested

YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu was arrested late Saturday night on charges of obstructing police while they were performing their duties. He was later shifted to the Nallapadu Police Station.

Police registered two FIRs against Ambati Rambabu. One case relates to allegedly creating trouble for on-duty police personnel.

The second FIR pertains to his remarks against Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, in which he is accused of using provocative language that could disturb law and order and encourage group clashes.

Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal told the media that Ambati Rambabu allegedly pushed a police sub-inspector while the officer was on duty. He said the arrest was made based on these two allegations.

Meanwhile, Ambati Rambabu’s wife, Vijayalakshmi, approached the High Court by filing a house motion petition. In her petition, she alleged illegal detention by the police and claimed that adequate protection was not provided.

She stated that the police had unlawfully confined her along with nearly 60 others, even though there were no valid legal grounds for such action.

Vijayalakshmi further alleged that the police failed to ensure her safety and maintain law and order, which she said posed a serious threat to her personal security.

Referring to the prevailing law and order situation, she claimed that the authorities were unable to control the situation and instead resorted to wrongful detention.
