First time, YSRC makes anti-BJP statement!

For the first time after the Bharatiya Janata Party entered into an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh, ruling YSR Congress party which has been maintaining utmost restraint in attacking the Modi government at the Centre, came out with a critical comment.

On Wednesday, YSRCP MLA Hafiz Khan issued a statement opposing the gazette notification issued by the Modi government on implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Khan told the reporters that the YSRCP strongly opposed the CAA in its current format implemented by the central government, as it would have adverse impact on the Muslim community.

Echoing the apprehensions shared by the public, the YSRCP leader said there was an urgent need for reform in the current structure of the CAA and address the legitimate concerns of Muslim community.

Reflecting on the steps taken by former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy to grant 4% reservation to Muslims, MLA Hafiz Khan added, "Chief Minister Jagan and the YSRC party have consistently supported and valued all communities equally."

“CM Jagan's vision is centered on providing security and justice to every citizen. we have sought amendments to the law so that it is acceptable to each and everyone,” he said.
