Fear doesn't exist in my blood, says Prasanna

Senior YSR Congress party leader and former MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy on Thursday brushed aside the reports that appeared in a section of media that he had gone into hiding after the Nellore police issued an arrest warrant against him, in connection with his alleged abusive comments against Kovvur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy.

He told reporters in Nellore town that he had not fled anywhere. He said he had gone to Chennai for treatment due to hand pain and returned after the treatment.

“Some people are spreading false propaganda claiming that I am absconding. No, I am very much at my residence in Nellore. Let the police come to me and arrest me whenever they want,” he challenged.

Prasanna asserted that he had come from the family of Nallapareddy Srinivasulu Reddy.

“Fear does not exist in our bloodline. Saying that I fled Nellore and went into hiding is laughable. I am not scared of any arrests,” he said.

He claimed that he would also provide the video footage of the people who attacked his house.

“If the police are impartial, they should conduct an investigation into this matter as well,” he said.

On Wednesday, the police registered a case against Prasanna Kumar Reddy for allegedly making derogatory, misogynistic comments against Prashanthi Reddy.

The FIR was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), 79 (intending to insult the modesty of a woman) and 296 (obscene acts and the utterance of obscene songs or words in public places).

Protests erupted across the state condemning his remarks.

On Tuesday, Vemireddy Prashanth Reddy lodged a complaint with ASP Soujanya at the SP office, demanding Prasanna’s arrest for using abusive and vulgar language against her.

She also urged police to prevent such harassment of other women in the future. Subsequently, a case was registered.
