EC to shift Jawahar Reddy as Andhra CS?

After the recent transfer of several IPS officers and a few IAS officers in Andhra Pradesh ahead of the upcoming elections to the state assembly and Lok Sabha, stage is set for the transfer of chief secretary K S Jawahar Reddy, too, according to sources.

The Election Commission of India is learnt to have decided to transfer Jawahar Reddy in the wake of complaints from various opposition parties that he was acting in favour of ruling YSR Congress party and was creating troubles for them.

Bharatiya Janata Party state president Daggubati Purandeshwari has prepared a list of senior officers, of course in consultation with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and submitted it to the Election Commission, seeking their transfer. She is also using her clout in the Centre to shift these officers.

Accordingly, the ECI has started axing one officer after the other. It has reportedly asked state chief electoral officer M K Meena to send a list of IAS officer in the order of seniority to be appointed as the chief secretary in place of Jawahar Reddy.

Sources Meena has sent a list of five IAS officers – Neerabh Kumar Prasad, R P Sisodia, Rajath Bhargava, Y Srilakshmi and G Anantaramu – to the ECI for consideration for the interim chief secretary.

“The EC is examining the list and in all probability, either Neerabh Kumar Prasad or R P Sisodia might be appointed as the interim CS. Orders are likely to be issued in a day or two,” sources said.
