EC orders probe into TDP campaign against LTA

EC orders probe into TDP campaign against LTA

For the last few days, the TDP and the Jana Sena Party have been launching vicious campaign against the Land Titling Act, 2002, enacted by the Jagan government.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan have been propagating that Jagan will usurp the lands belonging to the poor in the name of land titling, leading to a kind of panic among the people in the rural areas.

Though Jagan has made it categorically clear that his government will not take away even a single cent of land of the poor, the TDP and JSP social media teams have been extensively spreading the wrong message. Naidu announced that his party would scrap the act, if voted to power.

The YSRCP led by MLA Malladi Vishnu lodged a complaint with the Election Commission accusing the TDP of spreading false information among the people through IVRS messages to the voters.

Reacting to the complaint, the EC on Saturday directed the Crime Investigation Department of the state police to conduct serious investigation regarding purported propagation of false, incorrect and unverified allegations against ‘Land Titling Act’ through paid IVRS calls by the TDP.

“The complaint is communicated herewith to the Additional Director General of Police, CID (Cyber cell), Andhra Pradesh, Mangalagiri, for taking necessary action in the matter in accordance with the prevailing laws, and the extant instructions/guidelines of the ECI and furnish action taken report, immediately,” said a communication from M N Harendhira Prasad, additional chief electoral officer.

Vishnu complained that several voters have been receiving IVR/automated phone calls from 079713185-32, +917317956049 and +917313790769. When the voters lift the call, falsity of misinformation regarding the proposed 'Land Titling Act' in the state by the incumbent government.

“Messages calling the voter 'NOT TO VOTE FOR JAGAN, AND VOTE FOR CIIANDRABABU' are being voiced,” the YSRCP leader said.

The voice messages said: “Dear Public, be aware you are going to lose your wealth, with Land Titling Act and it will be implemented in two days, as a responsible citizens you should vote CHANDRA BABU and SAVE YOUR WEALTH.”

Another message said: “Your land records and wealth records should be given to Jagan Government, and you should only keep Xerox copies, you heard it right, Jagan Land Titling Act, with this new Act your wealth will be stolen, it will be implemented in two days, dear public BEWARE."

“It is leamed that this plan is orchestrated by the opposition party, and it’s their part of political campaign,” Vishnu complained.
