Did Governor Warn Nimmagadda?

Did Governor Warn Nimmagadda?

It looks as if Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan had given his peace of mind to State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar on the local body elections.

Ramesh Kumar had closeted with the Governor in Raj Bhavan on Monday evening for nearly 20 minutes.

While it is not known what transpired between the two, an hour after his coming out of the meeting, Nimmagadda had given clearance to the Collectors of Chittoor and Guntur to clear the unanimous elections.

He had told the collectors to keep the unanimous elections in the two districts in abeyance a couple of days ago.

The SEC’s decision on the unanimous elections had irked Panchayat Raj Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy who questioned the decision and asserted that not giving clearance to the unanimous elections is against the rule and the government would blacklist such officers.

Sources say that the Governor was unhappy with the SEC’s style of functioning, including his visits to the districts and his comments with the media in every district after the review meetings.

Last week, the Governor did not give an audience to Nimmagadda, following which the SEC had gone to Hyderabad, after the notification was issued.

The Governor also reportedly found fault with the SEC for not being in the headquarters when the election process was started.
