As YSR Congress party chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is preparing to visit Bangarupalem in Chittoor district on Wednesday to interact with Totapuri mango farmers, a tense atmosphere is prevailing in the district with the police imposing stringent security restrictions.
Given the political sensitivity, both the government and YSRCP are treating Jagan’s Chittoor tour as prestigious. Against this backdrop, district SP Manikanta Chandolu has issued a stern warning.
The police have restricted the number of participants accompanying Jagan during his visit to the Bangarupalem market yard to just 500 people. It has been clearly stated that only 500 people will be allowed inside the market yard.
Restrictions have also been imposed on the number of vehicles in Jagan’s convoy. However, with reports suggesting that Jagan is mobilizing large crowds despite these restrictions, police have heightened their vigilance.
SP Manikanta warned that if more than 500 people show up during Jagan’s tour, rowdy-sheets would be opened against the violators.
Initially, after Jagan’s tour was planned, YSRCP leaders sought police permission and requested adequate security, including permission for setting up a helipad.
YSRCP leaders informed police that around 10,000 people were expected for the tour and asked for security accordingly.
After reviewing this, police firmly restricted the number to 500 people within the market yard, stating that permission would be granted only if this limit was agreed upon. Reluctantly, YSRCP leaders agreed.
However, with speculation about a large last-minute crowd under the pretext of “fans,” the SP’s stern warning about opening rowdy-sheets has gained prominence.
