Village Bans 'Beeda Brothers' Amid Harbour Row

Village Bans 'Beeda Brothers' Amid Harbour Row

A tense atmosphere is prevailing in a coastal fishing village in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh after residents imposed a social boycott targeting Telugu Desam Party leaders over the Juvvaladinne fishing harbour issue.

In Iskapalli village of Allur mandal, local fishermen have reportedly enforced a rule imposing a ₹1 lakh fine on anyone who communicates with Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Mastan Rao or MLA Beeda Ravichandra, collectively referred to as the “Beeda brothers.”

According to local reports, the controversy began after fishermen seized four boats belonging to Tamil Nadu fishermen and stationed them at the Juvvaladinne fishing harbour.

The boats allegedly went missing overnight, leading to suspicions among local fishing communities about the role of the Beeda brothers.

Following the incident, representatives from fishing villages across Nellore and Prakasam districts held a meeting on April 6 at Pakala village in Singarayakonda mandal.

The meeting reportedly resolved that villages such as Iskapalli, Juvvaladinne, Chennarayunipalem, and one panchayat in Kavali mandal should collectively bear responsibility and pay ₹3 crore as compensation.

Amid reports that some fishermen leaders affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were in contact with the Beeda brothers, tensions escalated. As a result, village elders enforced the penalty rule to prevent such interactions.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing in the village regarding participation in the upcoming visit of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to the Juvvaladinne harbour on April 15.

Sources indicate that village elders are also considering imposing penalties on those who fail to attend the event.
