Cong slams Bhumana for targeting IAS officer Srilakshmi

Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Chinta Mohan on Friday expressed strong anger against YSRCP leaders for their comments on senior IAS officer Yerra Srilakshmi, one of the most favoured officers of former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Speaking to the media in Guntur, he condemned the remarks made by YSRCP leader and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, calling them deplorable.

“It is shameful for YSRCP leaders to make personal comments about a woman officer, even talking about her wigs and sarees,” Chinta Mohan said.

The former Union minister recalled that during the tenure of the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as chief minister, the same officer simply signed files as instructed, and even faced jail time.

“The present YSRCP leaders used her services for their irregularities back then, and are now making personal attacks on her. This is unacceptable,” he added.

Meanwhile, Srilakshmi approached the Supreme Court challenging a Telangana high court verdict, seeking a fresh probe into her role in the alleged illegal mining case involving OMC (Obulapuram Mining Company).

The Telangana high court had earlier removed her name from the case. But the CBI challenged that order in the Supreme Court. Later, the Supreme Court directed the High Court to hear arguments again and issue a fresh verdict.

Following this, the Telangana high court reinstated her name in the case and dismissed her petition. Now, Srilakshmi has appealed to the Supreme Court, where a bench of Justice M M Sundresh and Justice Kotiswar Singh has heard the plea.

The bench has issued notices to the respondents and granted a stay on the high court order.
