Chiranjeevi to share dais with Modi?

Megastar Chiranjeevi might have opted out of politics and has been focussing only on films, but sometimes, he is forced to land up in events involving political parties and the governments.

On Tuesday, the megastar received an invitation from the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre to share dais with none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The occasion is the 125th birth anniversary of revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju district being held at Bhimavaram town in Narsapuram district on July 4. The Prime Minister is attending the event and he will be unveiling the statue of Alluri.

On Tuesday, Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy personally wrote to Chiranjeevi, stating that the Centre was paying tributes to the revolutionary freedom fighter, who is revered across the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Karnataka as "Manyam Veerudu," as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

He said Modi would address a public meeting at Pedamiram and unveiling the statue of Sri Alluri Sitarama Raju in ASR Nagar, Bhimavaram.

“I would request your presence in Bhimavaram on July 4 as a part of the Prime Minister's programme,” he said.

Kishan Reddy also requested that Chiranjeevi could support the Centre’s plans to conduct various programmes in honour of Alluri Sitarama Raju over the next one year.

It is not immediately known whether Chiranjeevi has accepted the invitation. Since Bhimavaram is closer to his native place Mogalturu, he may utilise the opportunity to get the mass appeal.

It is not known whether the Centre has extended similar invitation to Chiranjeev’s younger brother Pawan Kalyan, who also hails from the same area.

Pawan Kalyan had lost the assembly elections from Bhimavaram in 2019 and is now an alliance partner of BJP in Andhra!
