The YSR Congress Party on Saturday alleged that Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s five-day tour to Singapore was merely an attempt to revive old ties with individuals involved in corrupt dealings.
Speaking to the media, YSRCP spokesperson Putta Sivashankar Reddy claimed that Naidu had resumed his old pattern of reconnecting with questionable contacts in Singapore under the guise of promoting start-ups in the Amaravati capital region.
“His real mission is to identify people willing to share the spoils, not to serve the interests of farmers,” he said.
Reddy further alleged that the terms of the original Amaravati contract were skewed heavily in favor of Singapore-based companies, giving them a 58% share.
“This clearly indicates that the visit is not for public welfare but for personal gain,” he remarked.
He recalled that the Singapore consortium had withdrawn from the Amaravati project after the YSRCP came to power in 2019, fearing exposure of the alleged scam.
Reddy also criticized Naidu’s media machinery for attempting to glorify the trip.
He pointed out that the Chief Minister’s close associate, Eshwaran, had previously faced serious charges in Singapore, adding to the controversy surrounding the tour.
“The narrative that Naidu is trying to restore a damaged relationship with Singapore is baseless. Such a move isn’t even within his jurisdiction,” Reddy asserted.
“When global investments can be initiated over a Zoom call, what was the need for this elaborate trip — especially with P Narayana in tow — other than to re-establish his old network?” he questioned.
