Narreddy Sunitha, daughter of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy, who was brutally murdered in March 2019, on Thursday expressed concern over the utter lawlessness in Pulivendula during the ongoing by-elections to ZPTC seat and said it reminded her of the days of her father’s murder.
Sunitha, and her husband Rajasekhar Reddy met Kadapa superintendent of police Ashok Kumar and explained to him the latest developments in the Viveka murder case.
They met him in the context of the petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the accused.
Speaking to the media later Sunitha said watching the incidents taking place in Pulivendula over the past two days during the ZPTC by-election reminds her of her father Viveka’s murder.
“When he lay dead with axe injuries, it was initially claimed that he died of a heart attack. They even tried to convince us that TDP leaders had killed him. The crime scene was tampered with by threatening the police,” she said.
She said that after the murder, a letter was brought to her, and she was asked to sign it, stating that her father was killed by Adinarayana Reddy, Satish Reddy, and B.Tech Ravi - but she refused. She also claimed that Avinash Reddy’s followers had threatened the police.
"The same pattern is repeating now in the ZPTC by-election. A relative of ours, Suresh, was attacked. There is suspicion that MP Avinash Reddy’s followers were behind the assault,” she said.
Sunitha said she had been fighting this case for the past six years. Yet, the accused haven’t been punished so far.
“We are deeply frustrated. They are spreading false propaganda that myself and Rajasekhar Reddy were behind my father’s murder. We demand that the real culprits be punished. It's outrageous that the accused in the murder case are still roaming freely."
Sunitha also reminded that Friday was her father's (Viveka's) birthday, but expressed anguish that her mother has asked her not to come to Pulivendula. She lamented that she now has to move around with security while fighting for justice.
“I strongly believe that justice will definitely prevail one day. They are filing cases against me and my husband. No matter how many cases they file or how many threats we face, we won’t be afraid. We will continue our fight until justice is served,” she asserted.
