Ayyanna Patrudu escapes arrest with HC order

Loud-mouth Telugu Desam Party leader and former minister Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu on Thursday got a reprieve in the Andhra Pradesh state high court and escaped from being arrested by the West Godavari police in connection with a case related to abusing chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Ayyanna’s advocate Satish filed a petition in the high court challenging the police action of the police. He said the police had surrounded the former minister’s house at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam district as if he was a criminal.

The high court examined the petition and granted stay on further actions against Ayyanna Patrudu. It said no hasty arrests should be made in the case.

It may be mentioned that the West Godavari police on Tuesday booked a case against Ayyanna Patrudu for his alleged abusive remarks against Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

A case was registered at Nallajerla police station on a complaint by a leader of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Ramakrishna for objectionable remarks against the chief minister during his speech at the unveiling of a statue of TDP founder and former chief minister N T Rama Rao at Nallajerla three days ago.

The former minister was booked under sections 153 A, 505 (2) and 506 of the IPC for promoting disharmony, feelings of hatred between different groups and criminal intimidation.
