With the Bharat Rashtra Samithi led by former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao losing power to the Congress in Telangana, so was lost his ambition to play the role at the national level by expanding his party to different parts of the state.
This has led to a sort of confusion among the BRS branches in other states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and even New Delhi.
Slowly, leaders from various political parties who had joined the BRS with an ambition of making it big in the national politics have also started looking for other options.
And with the talk of the BRS reverting to its original avatar Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) doing rounds, these leaders who joined the party with a high hope are now quitting the party one after the other.
In Andhra Pradesh, the BRS has virtually closed the shop. Senior leader and former minister Ravela Kishore Babu, who somersaulted from one party to another in the last five years and ended up in the BRS last year, has also quit the party recently and joined the YSR Congress party on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Andhra BRS president Thota Chandrasekhar indicated that he would be returning to his parent party – Jana Sena soon.
He met megastar Chiranjeevi on the pretext of congratulating him on being conferred with Padma Vibhushan award, but discussed the political situation.
He reportedly took the blessings of Chiranjeevi and is likely to join Jana Sena in a day or two.
According to sources, his name is being sounded for Guntur (West) assembly seat, which is being allotted to Jana Sena as part of alliance with the Telugu Desam Party.
If he gets the ticket, he will be fighting against state health minister Vidadala Rajini, who has been shifted from Chilakaluripet in place defected MLA Maddali Giridhar.
