After Nellore, Jagan plans to target Rajahmundry?

Over the past few months, YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been touring various parts of the state under the pretext of meeting party leaders arrested in different cases and visiting the families of party workers who allegedly died due to harassment by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

These visits have been strategically planned to help the party regain lost ground. So far, he has visited Ramagiri in the Satya Sai district, Podili in Prakasam, Sattenapalli in Palnadu, Bangarupalyem in Chittoor, and Nellore town.

At every stop, Jagan has ensured large turnouts, aiming to demonstrate that he remains a strong crowd-puller and that people continue to show up in large numbers to support him.

YSRCP leaders have been making elaborate arrangements, mobilizing crowds to give political weight to these visits.

Interestingly, police restrictions at some events have worked in Jagan's favor, earning him media attention and portraying him as being unfairly targeted by the administration.

The YSRCP cadre views these tours as a serious opportunity to showcase the party’s strength.

Jagan has been questioning the need for such police restrictions, portraying them as a sign that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu fears his rising popularity.

As part of his political strategy, Jagan is now preparing to enter the Godavari districts — regions where the YSRCP failed to win a single seat in the last Assembly elections and which are considered strongholds of the NDA alliance.

On August 5, Jagan is scheduled to visit Rajahmundry Central Jail to meet MP Mithun Reddy, who has been lodged in the Sneha block since his arrest on July 20.

Notably, this is the same block where Chandrababu Naidu was held during his own incarceration.

Jagan has already condemned Mithun Reddy's arrest and questioned any alleged link to the liquor scam.

With his Rajahmundry visit drawing closer, the police may once again impose restrictions, likely intensifying the political spotlight on the event.
