Allari Naresh and Sunil coming together after a long time has perked up interest in all. 'Silly Fellows' which also brought Bhimaneni and Allari Naresh back after 'Sudigaadu' has raised expectations.

Let’s find out how the film has fared.

An MLA named Jacket Janakiram plans to hold mass weddings. He gives the job of bringing couples to the mandapam to Veerababu (Allari Naresh).

When Veerababu is short of a guy, he asks his friend Soori (Sunil) to act as a groom to Pushpa (Nandini Rai) for few minutes. Soori’s wedding to Pushpa, a recording dancer puts both of them in many funny situations.

How Veera Babu and Soori escape from this mess and marry their respective girlfriends (Chitra Shukla and Poorna) forms the rest of the story.

Artistes’ Performances:
Allari Naresh has played the role in his usual style. Relief is that he has not done any spoofs. The film relies more on Sunil and other actors than Allari Naresh.

Sunil has played full-length comedian role. He is just okay. Jayaprakash Reddy gets a lengthy character and his comedy in the second half is good. Brahmi’s comedy is routine. Chitra Shukla is okay.

Technical Excellence:
The film is made with cheap production values and low technical standards. Music, artwork, and other technical departments are of low standard.

Sunil's comedy

Frame to frame remake
Loud and old style
Inane prasa dialogues

“Silly Fellows” is remake of a Tamil movie starring Vishnu Vishal and Soori. Allari Naresh has reprised Vishnu Vishal’s role while Sunil has stepped into Soori’s shoes. The film was also dubbed into Telugu but it didn’t run at the box-office.

Director Bhimaneni who is known for remakes has made frame to frame to remake of the original Tamil movie with loud comedy, garish setup and old-style prasa dialogues.

The entire first half is half-baked and bad though some comic moments here and there bring laughs.

Post-interval it treads in the similar manner, but luckily there comes nearly 20-minutes comedy episode involving Jaya Prakash Reddy who regains memory after losing it for a while.

If he has to recollect something that happened sometime in the day, he will have to narrate his day’s routine from the morning 5 0’ clock.

When Posani kidnaps him and asks him to reveal what his deceased brother-in-law told him secretly before dying, Jaya Prakash Reddy starts narrating that particular day’s routine from the beginning and each time somebody disturbs him. This is handled in a hilarious manner.

This is the only laugh-out-loud moment in this movie which is otherwise quite routine and old-style.

All in all, the film is neither out rightly decent comedy nor can be called completely rubbish. Pretty formulaic entertainer.

Bottom-line: Formulaic Entertainment
