The film 'Annamayya' starred by Nagarjuna was to be made by Athreya long ago. About 18 songs were recorded as well. Athreya, the famous lyricist tightened his belts to direct that film. But his sudden demise halted the shooting of the same. Athreya was expired after writing songs for the film 'Abhinandana'.
The 'Annamayya' project was kept in hibernation for many years. It's only with the match of wave length between Bharavi and Raghavendra Rao that pushed the film towards materializing.
Thus, Annamayya was finally made in 1997.
