Sree Vishnu’s Vishnu Vinyasam was released yesterday to a mixed response, though the movie made an impressive business of grossing 3.95 Cr worldwide on its opening day.
The movie also crossed $100K on its opening day alone, making it the biggest opener for Sree Vishnu in that region. Trending top on BookMyShow, the collections are much stronger for day two, as the bookings indicate.
The team addressed the media, where they expressed their happiness over the box office numbers, and also shared the reason for releasing the movie in a hurried way.
Producer Subrahmanyan said, “Though the movie opened to average numbers for morning shows, it saw growth from show to show. It’s trending on BookMyShow and collections are much stronger for today. It’s a film that can be enjoyed with families.”
Sree Vishnu also admitted that they received a mixed response after the morning shows. “That’s okay, because I’ve always believed in making films that connect with families and youth. From the first and second shows itself, we could clearly see the positive growth, and that made us very happy. As we said earlier, this is a movie made with the intention of making you laugh throughout the weekend.
We received extremely positive reports from towns, with many full shows. We sincerely hope this continues throughout the week. To all the US audience, thank you so much. You’ve given me the highest-ever number on day one in my career.
The main reason we decided to release the film suddenly and quickly was because, nearly 2 months ago in December, the entire movie got leaked. We had no idea how it happened. One morning, Subrahmanyam called and informed me the same. I didn’t even understand what was happening — how could a half-baked film get leaked like that? We filed complaints immediately, but by then it had already spread to some extent. It caused tremendous stress for all of us.
The film wasn’t even fully complete at that time. If we said anything publicly, it might be misunderstood. Despite the blackmail attempts from those pirates, the producers stood strong with courage. Even with very little time, we completed the movie. Handling such a sensitive and dangerous situation with so much bravery makes me truly proud of my makers. In the end, we managed to stop the leak from spreading further and released the film safely.”
Sree Vishnu also stated that he respects critics for their views on the movie, and revealed that they are planning a success tour across the Telugu states.
