Visited many jails for 'Check': Chandra Sekhar Yeleti

Starring Nithiin, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Prakash Varrier in prominent roles, Check is slated for theatrical release on 26th of February.

The film is billed to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller with the male lead, Nithiin playing the role of a prisoner on death row, who has mastered the game of Chess.

Speaking about Check Chandrasekhar Yeleti who helmed the film said he visited many jails while scripting.

"In the span of a year, I visited several jails in the country to get to know more details about terrorists who are serving jail time. But many of my questions like how terrorists are transported to jail, how are they treated, and what kind of mindset they are in while spending their time in jail went unanswered. I understand that those are confidential and sensitive matters, so I didn't force myself further," he said.

The creative director added that Check will also portray the concept of the president's powers to pardon a prisoner on death sentence.

"We conceived an atypical jail and also designed a new uniform for the film. These are fictional and don't have any resemblance with the jails that we have in our country. I am confident that Check will strike a chord with the viewers. It has human emotions, fantastic performances of the lead cast, immersive background score, and thrilling elements. It is a proper commercial film with a unique plot," he concluded.
