Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Kingdom surprised everyone by posting impressive numbers from its premiere shows, despite debuting on a Wednesday night.
The film collected a staggering $933K from premieres — the highest-ever opening for a Vijay Deverakonda film.
It even surpassed the recent big opener HIT 3 starring Nani.
While reviews have been largely mixed, the film is holding steady on Day 1. Current projections estimate an additional $275K from its first full day, bringing the Day 1 total to around $1.25M to $1.3M, including premieres.
However, the real test begins over the weekend. The film needs to collect another $700K to break even and must perform strongly on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to hit that target.
Given the mixed word-of-mouth, it's a challenging task — but producer and lead actor Vijay Deverakonda remains hopeful that Kingdom will emerge as a safe hit.
