TPCC to get new chief in place of Revanth?

TPCC to get new chief in place of Revanth?

It appears the days of Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy are numbered as the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, if the reports doing rounds in the party are to be believed.

Revanth Reddy, who played an instrumental role in bringing the party to power in Telangana in the last assembly elections held on November 30, was continued in the PCC chief post for the Lok Sabha elections as well, as the party high command did not want to change the winning horse.

However, sources said, the high command has sent a clear message to Revanth Reddy that he has to step down from the PCC chief post after the Parliament elections, so that he could focus completely on the administration in the next four and a half years.

In his place, the high command wants to appoint a new PCC chief, who can act as a bridge between the government and the party.

Needless to say, the new PCC chief should be in good relations with Revanth Reddy but not someone, who creates trouble for him.

Sources said Revanth Reddy might step down anytime after June 4, when the results for the parliament elections are declared.

A new PCC chief will take over before the conduct of the local body elections in the state, which might take place in the last week of June.

Again, there is a lot of debate in the party as to whether the PCC chief should also be from Reddy community or from Backward Classes or Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes.

Among the Reddys, there is a lot of competition – like Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy or Venkat Reddy, T Jeevan Reddy or T Jagga Reddy or even K Jana Reddy.

Among the BCs, there is a tough fight from Madhu Yashki Goud, Mahesh Kumar Goud, Anjan Kumar Yadav or even V Hanumantha Rao.

While Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is in the race from the SC community, the name of Seethakka is being heard from the ST community.

“In any case, the new PCC chief should be acceptable to all and should have good equations with the chief minister,” sources said.
