Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited Thug Life which generated more hype with its intense trailer will be hitting the screens on June 5th. Sudhakar Reddy of Sreshth Movies is releasing the movie in Telugu states.
While addressing the Telugu media, Mani Ratnam recalled an incident of how his first movie Nayakan with Kamal Haasan happened.
“The same thing happened for Thug Life as well. One day, Kamal Haasan called me and told me, let’s do a film together. He hasn’t changed much over the years from Nayakan to Thug Life. I would like to do another movie with Kamal, whenever he asks me to do."
Kamal Haasan stated that he doesn’t blame Mani Ratnam for delay in their second collaboration.
“The delay was because of me. I needed time to evolve to match his maturity. Once I’m sure, that’s when we work together. Whenever it’s mutually convenient, we will do it again.
In Mani's films, I don’t have to act; I just have to behave. In other films, I have to behave on request. For Indrudu Chandrudu, Tanikella Bharani was supposed to write the dialogues. When that didn’t work out, we brought in Crazy Mohan, though Bharani translated the lines into Telugu. I urge Bharani to keep writing.
I saw confidence in Ashok during this film. Simbu comes from a family of artists. I’ve known him since his childhood. He’s truly a child of cinema. That’s why we understand each other so well.
I’m glad Abhirami returned. Look at her performance, the romance, it’s fantastic, thanks to Mani Ratnam. I got married to Mani Ratnam, through cinema, even before Suhasini did. This is a fantastic team, which is why we’re celebrating so much. I want this film to be even bigger than Nayakan, and from what I’ve seen, I promise you, it will be.
I was made a hero in Kerala, but I became a star here. This place is like a Puttinallu (birthplace) for me as a star."
Sudhakar Reddy expressed confidence that, like the two films he previously released of Kamal Haasan's production, Thug Life will also become a big hit.
