Pawan Kalyan's much-anticipated OG song was released today.
The track is titled "They Call Him OG – Firestorm (Lyric Video)", and it features Telugu lyrics penned by two lyricists, Vishwa and Srinivas Mouli.
It's unclear why such a straightforward song required two lyricists.
This could either point to their inefficiency in crafting impactful lyrics individually, or it may reflect a lack of clarity or decisiveness from the creative team in finalizing the lyrics through a single writer.
Thaman S attempted the music in a trendy, high-energy style with an impressive orchestral arrangement, but it sounds routine.
However, the vocals come across as overly cacophonic. Without the lyrics being displayed, it's difficult to comprehend what is actually being sung.
The song also features English lines written by Raja Kumari and Japanese lyrics by Adviteeya Vojjala.
The opening lines — “Paga ragilian fire-u, pagabadithe gundelo fear-u” — are catchy and rhymed well, but as the song progresses, the lyrical depth diminishes. Despite being typical hero-worship lines, they fail to leave a lasting impact.
Overall, this is very much a music director's song; it works more as theme music than as a lyrical or musical masterpiece, especially for a high-profile film.
The vocals are rendered by Thaman S, Nazeeruddin, Bharathraj, Silambarasan TR (Simbu), Deepak Blue, and Raja Kumari.
OG is directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari. The film is slated to hit screens on September 25.
