Movies like V, Orey Bujjiga, Nissabdham, Red etc. were gearing up for release when the Government ordered for nationwide lockdown.
Existing lockdown will extend up to this month end for sure and there is no certainty over resumption of movie theaters after the lockdown is lifted.
Going by the circumstances, movie theaters will not be allowed to operate at least until the corona scare subsides to a significant level. In all likelihood, movie business maybe fully functional from July or August. This is a huge burden for all the movies that are complete and ready for release.
OTT platforms sensed the opportunity and offering tempting deals for direct digital release. Buzz has it that Ram’s Red has been offered Rs. 20 Cr by an OTT giant.
Even Nissabdham, Orey Bujjiga and 30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela are getting tempting offers from OTT platforms.
Dil Raju was reportedly contacted for V rights, but he hasn’t shown interest for digital release.
