South Indians Referred To As Madharaasi: Murugadoss

Sivakarthikeyan starrer action thriller Madharaasi directed by AR Murugadoss on Sri Lakshmi Movies Banner is set for release in 2 more days on September 5th.

Speaking about the film, director Murugadoss shared, “I approach every film like it’s my first, and Madharaasi is no different. The excitement and passion are the same. This is a unique story, and I believe it will connect with audiences across the board.”

Addressing the choice of title, he clarified why Madharaasi is being retained for both Tamil and Telugu versions. “In North India, South Indians are often colloquially referred to as Madhraasis. In this film, the story unfolds largely from the villain’s perspective, and he constantly refers to the hero as Madharaasi. That’s how the title came to be.”

Murugadoss also highlighted the novelty of Sivakarthikeyan’s role. “This is a very different character for him, something he’s never done before. He connected with the script right away and agreed to come on board. With his strong mass appeal, we felt he was the right choice to take this story to a wider audience.”

The director further teased the film’s high-octane action. “The second half is packed with explosive fight sequences. The confrontations between the hero and villain are choreographed to be both intense and visually stunning. Audiences will definitely be in for a treat.”
