Although "Adipurush" is performing well at the box office, the film is facing heavy criticism for its distortions and dialogues related to the Ramayana.
In particular, the dialogues spoken by Hanuman are hard to accept. Some of Hanuman's dialogues resemble the lines spoken by heroes in action sequences in commercial films.
"Adipurush" lacks devotional undertones.
In response to the criticism, the film's original writer, Manoj Muntashir, defended the dialogues and explained that a considerable amount of thought was put into crafting them.
He mentioned that colloquial language was intentionally used to enable a stronger connection with younger audiences.
The Telugu dialogues were translated as they were.
Manoj also clarified that the film does not cover the entirety of the Ramayana.
"We only focused on the Yuddhakanda (the war section) from the Ramayana and named it 'Adipurush' for this reason. If we had depicted the entire Ramayana, we would have titled it 'Ramayan.' Our aim is to present our glorious stories in a manner that resonates with the current generation of viewers," he explained.
However, a significant number of Hindus are surprised by the film's lack of devotional elements.
