The overseas rights for Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film Coolie are still being finalized.
Industry sources reveal that the film is drawing massive interest, with offers touching nearly ₹80 crore, which would mark the highest-ever pre-release overseas business for a Tamil film.
The record-breaking demand is driven by the powerful combination of Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film’s rumored inclusion in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, and expectations of a mass entertainer with top-tier production values.
A final call is expected soon. If the deal is sealed at this scale, Coolie will surpass all previous Kollywood records in overseas markets, setting a new benchmark for Tamil cinema globally.
Coolie is scheduled to release theatrically on 14 August 2025, a day before Independence Day, in standard and IMAX formats.
