Singer Kumar Sanu has filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court against his former wife Rita Bhattacharya.
He is seeking Rs 30 lakh as compensation, stating that certain interviews given by Rita damaged his reputation.
He has also asked the court to order the removal of those interviews, which he claims contain false and defamatory remarks. The petition was heard by the court on December 17.
Sanu’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan told the court that these statements violate the divorce agreement signed by both parties.
The settlement was recorded at the Bandra Family Court on February 9, 2001.
It clearly mentioned that neither Sanu nor Rita was allowed to make accusations against each other after their divorce.
Kumar Sanu married Rita in the late 1980s and they have three children Jiko, Jassi and Jaan. The couple later separated. Their son Jaan became popular after appearing on Bigg Boss 14.
Sanu was also earlier linked to actress Kunickaa Sadanand, though they never married.
