From July 24 to August 24, Tollywood is all set to roar. It's time for theatres to come alive again, with a lineup of big-budget and high-profile releases hitting the screens one after another.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Kingdom, War 2, and Coolie are all slated for release in quick succession.
Audiences across the two Telugu states are expected to collectively spend nearly ₹700 crore on these films. That’s the only way buyers can recover their investments.
The market work for Hari Hara Veera Mallu is still ongoing, but the makers are aiming to sell theatrical rights in the ₹150–200 crore range.
Kingdom has reportedly fetched around ₹40 crore for its theatrical rights in the Telugu states.
War 2 has been sold for approximately ₹80 crore across both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Coolie's Telugu rights were sold for around ₹44 crore.
Altogether, these four films need to generate a share of about ₹300–350 crore from the Telugu states, which translates to roughly ₹700 crore in gross collections.
To be precise, between July 24 and August 24, audiences in the two Telugu states will need to shell out this massive amount to ensure the success of these films.
But luck doesn't favor every film. Which one will strike gold at the box office and which one won’t — it all depends on how they perform after release.
Adding to the challenge, there's only a one-week gap between Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Kingdom, making it a risky window for both.
Within the next two weeks, two more massive films will follow. Four films. Four weeks. One huge gamble.
All eyes are now on the theatres. What happens next — we’ll have to wait and see.
