Director Gopichand Malineni is gearing up to score another hit with Nandamuri Balakrishna.
He had earlier prepared a powerful story with a historical backdrop and had even completed overseas recces for the project. Everything was in place, and the team was initially ready to take it forward.
However, the producer, hero, and director have now jointly decided to put this project on hold for the time being and move ahead with a different story. The issue is not with the content, but with the budget.
A film with a strong historical backdrop requires a long shooting schedule and a massive budget.
Given the current situation in Tollywood, where OTT revenues and Hindi rights valuations have seen a noticeable decline, the financial calculations did not appear favourable.
As a result, the team felt it was not the right time to take up such a large-scale project.
Meanwhile, director Gopichand Malineni has narrated another story idea to Balakrishna.
With the historical project temporarily shelved, the team has decided to proceed with this new subject. Script work for the film is currently underway.
The project will be produced by Satish Kilaru under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner. More details about the film are expected to be announced soon.
