
Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious mythological drama Kannappa has wrapped up its opening weekend on a high, continuing its strong performance across multiple languages since its release on Friday.
According to trade estimates by Sacnilk, the film collected ₹7.25 crore on Day 3 (Sunday), taking its total India net collection to approximately ₹23.75 crore for the weekend.
Kannappa opened with ₹9.35 crore on Day 1, with the Telugu version contributing ₹8.25 crore. On Day 2, the film saw a slight drop, earning ₹7.15 crore — a 23.53% decline. However, it bounced back modestly on Sunday with ₹7.25 crore, reaffirming its box office momentum.
The film continues to perform particularly well in Telugu-speaking regions, where it recorded an overall occupancy of 39.93% on Sunday. Afternoon and evening shows performed best, with occupancy reaching 51.16% and 50.75%, respectively.
In Tamil Nadu, the film maintained a steady 24.11% occupancy, peaking at 36.11% during afternoon shows.
The Hindi version registered 22.71% overall, showing an uptick during evening screenings with 33.16% occupancy.
The Malayalam version had the lowest response, with an average occupancy of 5.82%, though it still found viewership in key urban areas.
Kannappa has delivered the biggest opening weekend of Vishnu Manchu’s career, surpassing the performance of all his previous releases.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa follows the spiritual journey of Thinna, a tribal hunter who transforms from an atheist into one of Lord Shiva’s greatest devotees.
The film features high-profile cameos, including Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati, and Mohanlal as Kirata.
The supporting cast includes Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Preity Mukhundhan, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmaji, and Brahmanandam.
