For Telugu audiences, “NTR” is more than just a name — it’s a legacy, a brand, and a symbol of pride. For the older generation, NTR refers to the legendary actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
For the current generation, the name immediately evokes his grandson, the immensely popular actor Jr. NTR, also known as the "Young Tiger."
Although Jr. NTR prefers to go by "NTR" today, many still use the "Junior" prefix — a reflection of how strongly the original NTR's name remains etched in the collective memory of the Telugu people.
However, the Nandamuri family seems to have made a tradition of naming descendants after the iconic NTR.
Recently, yet another member of the family — the son of the late Janakiram and grandson of Nandamuri Harikrishna — was launched as a hero by producer-director YVS Chowdary. Unsurprisingly, he too has been named NTR.
As soon as photos of the new entrant surfaced online, social media lit up with reactions.
Netizens began trolling the Nandamuri family for recycling the name across generations, accusing them of creating unnecessary confusion and diluting the weight of the original NTR’s legacy.
One sarcastic comment captured the sentiment perfectly: “What should we call this one — Jr Jr NTR?”
