Economics Of RRR: How much Rajamouli Gets?

RRR is the film that started four years ago and crossing the three waves of pandemic, it is finally arriving at the theatres this week. It is everybody's curiosity to know the economics of this film.

Here is the information we received from the highly reliable inside source.

The total amount spent on making was Rs 330 Cr. Including the interests incurred this is rounded to Rs 400 Cr. The remunerations of the all the start cast and technicians is rounded to Rs 125 Cr (excluding Rajamouli's payment). The total amount spent on publicity from the last one year through out India was Rs 50 Cr. So all put together, the total amount spent so far was Rs 575 Cr.

The Telugu rights of the film were sold at Rs 300 Cr approximately. The non theatrical rights in all the languages was sold at Rs 225 Cr. The overseas rights were signed at Rs 70 Cr. The theatrical rights of other languages like Tamil and Malayalam were sold at Rs 40 Cr approximately. This totals to Rs 635 Cr.

But now the distributors of both the Telugu states are demanding for a 30% discount owing to the ticket prices. They say that the producers of Bahubali got permission from the Court for selling tickets at Rs 500 for the first two weeks and keeping that in mind they bought RRR for such huge amounts. So, if not 30%, the negotiation may bring this to 20%.

That way, an approximate amount of Rs 60 Cr has to be subtracted from  Rs 635 Cr which rounds up to Rs 575 Cr.

So, this the story of break even.

Now coming to the remuneration of Rajamouli and the profit of DVV Danayya they are relying on the performance of Hindi version. Whatever the Hindi version makes, that will be shared between the two.
