The clash of the titans is here; Rajinikanth’s Coolie vs Hrithik Roshan–NTR’s War 2!
Both stormed into theatres on August 14, riding the Independence Day holiday wave. But after four action-packed days, one thing is clear: Rajini has once again shown why he’s the Boss!
Coolie is roaring at the box office with a massive ₹194.25 crore domestic haul, while War 2 is trailing at ₹173.60 crore.
Day four alone saw Rajini rake in ₹35 crore, as NTR’s big gamble with War 2 managed ₹31 crore. The gap? A solid ₹20.65 crore in Coolie’s favor.
The numbers tell the story. Coolie blasted off with ₹65 crore on day one, overpowering War 2’s ₹52.5 crore. NTR and Hrithik struck back on day two with ₹57.35 crore, briefly snatching the lead as Rajini clocked ₹54.75 crore.
But from day three onward, the Boss was back on top. Rajini’s film grabbed ₹39.5 crore while War 2 stumbled with ₹33.25 crore. On Sunday, both films slowed down, but Rajini still stood tall at ₹35 crore versus NTR’s ₹31 crore.
And it’s not just India — Coolie has smashed past ₹320 crore worldwide, rewriting records for Tamil cinema. Meanwhile, War 2 has crossed ₹215 crore globally, but the momentum is slipping.
The verdict? Rajini’s Coolie is leading the charge, while War 2 faces a tough climb to catch up. With the long weekend done, the real battle begins in week two.
Will Rajini hold the throne, or will NTR stage a comeback?
