Malayalam actress Shwetha Menon has been booked by the Ernakulam Central Police in Kochi for allegedly featuring in obscene films and a condom advertisement for commercial gain.
The case has been registered under the Prevention of Obscenity Act, the IT Act, and sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The action was initiated following a complaint by public activist Martin Menachery, which was submitted to the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
The court directed the police to register an FIR against the actress.
The complaint highlights her roles in films such as Rathinirvedam, Paleri Manikyam, and Kalimannu, claiming the content was vulgar and shared online to attract attention and generate revenue.
Shwetha Menon, who began her acting career in 1991, has yet to issue an official statement.
She was last seen in the Malayalam film Jangar (2024) and the web series Nagendran’s Honeymoons.
