Box Office: Nil Collections In Movie Theatres

After a long hibernation, the theatres were opened with new releases yesterday. But much to the shock the response is pretty bad in all the centers. The audience didn't show interest in coming to the theatres.

All theatres were opened in Telangana State and partially opened in AP. The occupancy in both the states is miserable.

Many assumed that the weekends would do some wonders. But as Timmarusu bagged average talk and Ishq a failure talk, the collections for both the films is miserable.

At this juncture, can the biggies dare to release their films in August?

There is an opinion that the audience didn't turn up to the theatres as the films released this week are small ones.

Some say that whoever has come to theatres are only the ones who came to break the hibernation but not with the interest on films.

Until and unless a Jathi Rathnalu or an Uppena comes and scores a hit, the industry may not find the oxygen.

On the other hand, the night curfew in AP is extended upto August 14th (10 PM to 6 AM). So the second-shows cannot be screened.

But the exhibitors are happy to hear from AP government sources that the permission would be given to hike up the ticket prices after calling off the night curfew. If that happens, then they can show some interest to open the theatres in full with new films.

All said and done, if the situation in Kerala with a huge spike in Covid-19 cases spreads to other states and eventually to the Telugu states, then it is needless to say that the theatre business will be in doldrums again.
