Box Office: Big Disappointments Of 2022

Box Office: Big Disappointments Of 2022

1. Khiladi: The film released during the Sankranthi season ended up as a bitter film in the career of Ravi Teja. The film that came in the direction of Ramesh Varma amidst huge expectation was toppled miserably at the box office.

2. Adavallu Meeku Joharlu: Balachendar made a film with the same title a few decades ago. This year Kishore Tirumala came up with the same title grooving in Sharwanand in the main lead along with many yesteryears' actresses. The film sagged like a TV serial and ended up as a flop at the box office. Even the aadavallu among the audience didn't pump in oxygen for this film.

3. Radhe Shyam: This is the biggest debacle of the year. The film that came with huge expectations toppled badly. The film had to face several trolls from the first day. This couldn't make at least half the collection of the total investment. It failed to garner traction both at theatres and on the OTT.

4. Ghani: This is another biggest disaster of the year that couldn't even bring back the promotion costs, as per an observation. The total cost of the film was around Rs 30 Cr but it couldn't even collect Rs 4 Cr -5 Cr. Hero Varun Tej also expressed his apology to the audience for the kind of film delivered.

5. Acharya: This the colossal flop of the year. There were many hopes pinned on his film with Megastar being the lead actor and Siva Koratala being the director. But the content of the film shocked the audience. The names like padaghattam used in the film were trolled so badly. Acharya remains a nightmare for Chiranjeevi fans and Chiranjeevi himself hesitated to bring the topic of the film after the release.

6. Ante Sundaraniki: Initially the film raised some interest with Nani and Nazriya in lead roles. Talented director Vivek Atreya was the director and that has promised nonstop entertainment. The film failed at the box office through apples good for some audiences. Finally it ended up as a flop and the attempts to cover up on OTTs also didn't work.

7. Pakka Commercial: This is a pakka flop show by director Maruthi. Even the bare minimum expectations weren't reached by the director and made on the lines of a beaten formulaic narrative. Gopichand and Raashi Khanna paired up for this film but didn't work finally.

8. Rangaranga Vaibhavanga: This is another disaster this year. Uppena hero Vaishnav Tej came up with this film but it didn't go well with the audience. The openings were not so impressive and the quality of the content also marred it. The film ended up as a big failure at the boxoffice.

9. Liger: The film was projected as pan-Indian and made a lot of hungama during its making and during the promotional events. The film was made for quite a long time owing to the Covid lockdowns. But this brought an irresistible irritation to the audience. Puri Jagannath might have learnt a big lesson with this film that every story cannot be called a pan Indian. Vijay Devarakonda tasted the disaster of his career with this film apart from receiving flak for his irritating characterization with stammering.

10. Macherla Niyojakavargam: Though the title sounded powerful, it failed to garner any interest among the audience. Nithiin tasted a flop with this film. There is no gravity in the storyline of making and finally it received negative talk from the minimum audience who watched the film.

11. Ramarao On Duty: This is the second disaster for Ravi Teja this year. Trade report said that the film couldn't even pull Rs 4 Cr of collection while the making cost was Rs 40 Cr. It appears that Ravi Teja is only in the process of minting money in the form of remuneration and nothing else. It feels that he is almost risking his career by agreeing to work in the weakest story lines and insipid narratives.

12. Thank You: This is another disaster of the year. Vikram Kumar of Manam fame directed it. Naga Chaitanya tasted bitter flop with this. The film has no mettle to connect to the audience emotionally. It ended up as a failure by not even making one fifth of the total investment of the film.

13. The Warrior: Linguswamy made this film with Ram as the main lead. He started his attempts to make a direct Telugu film almost 10 years ago and finally it happened with this. The film couldn't even make half of the total investment. Many audiences don't even know when this film was released.

14. The Ghost: Nagarjuna's action drama came up with several expectations but ended up as a flop. He was in a cop-movie spree as he came up with the films like Wild Dog and Officer earlier. Things are not working but still Nag didn't lose interest in working for such films.

15. Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam: The title sounded political but there is not much in the film. Allari Naresh came up with serious content again after his 'Naandi'. His forte has been comedy but he seems to have kept that aside to see disasters like this.

16. Ginna: This was another film which looked promising with the trailer. But the film was trolled heavily though it does not deserve to face such flak. But shockingly it didn't make any good collection at the box office and ended up as a disaster.
